About All Metal Lock Nuts
All Metal Lock Nuts are prevailing torque type locking nuts designed without any non-metallic insert, making them ideal for high-temperature and chemically aggressive environments. These lock nuts feature a conical top with a flat bearing surface and chamfered corners, enabling a secure locking action through controlled distortion of the top threads.
The locking mechanism is achieved through the controlled distortion of the top threads. This design creates a high-friction grip that effectively resists loosening caused by heavy shock, intense vibration, and dynamic mechanical forces. Since the locking action is concentrated at the top and the bearing surface is at the bottom, they are considered one-way lock nuts and must be installed with the conical top facing up.
