What Is Super Duplex Steel UNS S32750?

Super Duplex Steel UNS S32750 also known as F53, Werkstoff 1.4410, X2CrNiMoN25-7-4, and by the trade names SAF 2507 and 2507 is a super duplex stainless steel with a balanced microstructure of roughly 50% ferrite and 50% austenite. This dual-phase structure is what gives the grade its two defining advantages: very high mechanical strength and exceptional corrosion resistance in aggressive chloride environments.

The high alloy content around 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum and 0.28% nitrogen pushes the Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) above 40, placing S32750 firmly in the “super duplex” class. In practical terms, a UNS S32750 round bar can be machined into shafts, pump and valve components, fasteners and flanges that survive seawater, sour service and acidic process streams where 316L or even standard 2205 duplex would fail.

Because the grade work-hardens readily and has high strength, ASTM A276 UNS S32750 bar requires more careful, robust machining and forging practice than austenitic grades, something our production team accounts for at every stage, from hot working through to final finishing.
