This dual-phase structure is what gives the grade its two defining advantages: very high mechanical strength and exceptional corrosion resistance in aggressive chloride environments.
The high alloy content around 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum and 0.28% nitrogen pushes the Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) above 40, placing S32750 firmly in the “super duplex” class. In practical terms, a UNS S32750 round bar can be machined into shafts, pump and valve components, fasteners and flanges that survive seawater, sour service and acidic process streams where 316L or even standard 2205 duplex would fail.
