Duplex & Super Duplex Pipes & Tubes Manufacturer, Supplier & Exporter

Jade Alloys is a leading manufacturer, stockist and exporter of Duplex & Super Duplex Pipes & Tubes in India, supplying EPC contractors, refineries, petrochemical plants, desalination projects, shipyards and OEM fabricators across more than 80 countries. Duplex stainless steel combines a balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure that delivers roughly twice the yield strength of conventional 304/316 austenitic grades while resisting chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. That strength-to-corrosion balance lets designers specify thinner walls, cutting weight and installed cost without sacrificing pressure integrity, the reason duplex pipes and super duplex pipes have become the default choice for aggressive, high-pressure service.

We stock the full family: standard Duplex Pipes & Tubes (grade 2205 / UNS S31803 / S32205), Super Duplex Pipes & Tubes (UNS S32750 “2507” and UNS S32760 “Zeron 100”) and cost-efficient lean duplex (S32304). All are produced to ASTM A790 / ASME SA790 and ASTM A928 (pipe) and ASTM A789 / ASME SA789 (tube), and every consignment ships with heat-number-traceable mill test certificates. Browse our wider pipes and tubes range.

What Are Duplex & Super Duplex Pipes & Tubes?

Duplex stainless steel takes its name from its two-phase microstructure roughly a 50/50 mix of austenite and ferrite. This dual structure is what gives duplex its headline advantages over single-phase austenitic grades: higher mechanical strength, markedly better resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, and strong pitting and crevice-corrosion performance. Because duplex pipes hold their mechanical and corrosion properties even when bent to tight radii, they suit both onshore and offshore pipelines and demanding process piping where reliability cannot be compromised.

Super duplex is the higher-alloyed step up. By raising chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen (and, in S32760, adding tungsten and copper), super duplex pipes reach a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of 40 or above, qualifying them for seawater, high chloride concentrations, elevated temperatures and higher operating pressures. In short, if standard 316L would pit and crack, duplex or super duplex is usually the correct specification.

Both product types carry pressure efficiently thanks to their high yield strength, which means thinner walls, lower material weight, reduced pressure loss and better flow performance, a cost-effective package for aggressive service. Jade Alloys supplies this material as seamless, welded, ERW and EFW pipe, plus tight-tolerance heat-exchanger tube.

How Duplex & Super Duplex Pipe Is Manufactured

Understanding the process helps buyers confirm quality assurance at source. Jade Alloys produces duplex pipe through the following routes:

Seamless Duplex Pipe

Seamless duplex pipe is produced by hot extrusion or cold drawing of solid billets, with no weld seam anywhere in the cross-section. The absence of a heat-affected zone makes seamless the preferred choice for high-pressure, high-temperature and severely corrosive duty. After forming, pipes are solution annealed and water quenched to restore the balanced duplex microstructure.

Welded & ERW Duplex Pipe

Welded duplex pipe is formed by rolling a stainless strip into a tubular shape and joining the longitudinal seam using the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) process; submerged-arc or plasma welding is used for larger diameters. Pipes are solution annealed after welding to remove any weld-induced phase imbalance. ERW duplex pipe is available for standard-pressure applications where full-penetration weld and NDT compliance are confirmed by eddy-current or ultrasonic testing.

EFW & Large-Diameter Duplex Pipe

Electric Fusion Welded (EFW) pipe is produced for larger diameters, typically above DN 400. The fusion weld is followed by full heat treatment and 100% radiographic testing. Once formed, pipes are cut to length by sawing, lathe or laser, cleaned, straightened, pickled and finally marked with grade, size and heat number.

Duplex & Super Duplex Pipe Applications by Industry

  • Oil & Gas / Offshore: Extensively used in offshore platforms, subsea flowlines, topside piping and pipeline risers. Resistance to chloride SCC and sour-gas (H₂S) environments makes grade 2205 and super duplex 2507 the standard choice for high-pressure wells.
  • Chemical & Petrochemical: Reactor circuits, heat-exchanger shells, acid-handling lines and process vessels handling chlorides, sulphuric acid or organic acids. Corrosion resistance plus pressure capacity at elevated temperature reduces total installed cost.
  • Desalination & Water Treatment: Super duplex S32750 and S32760 are specified for seawater intake piping, brine lines and reverse-osmosis pressure vessels, with PREN above 40 ensuring resistance in hot seawater.
  • Marine & Shipbuilding: Seawater cooling systems, ballast-water units, deck drainage and cargo-tank piping. Resistance to biofouling and marine corrosion extends service life well beyond carbon steel or standard austenitic grades.
  • Pulp & Paper: Digesters, bleach-plant pipelines, chemical-recovery systems and washing equipment exposed to chlorine compounds, caustic soda and black liquor.
  • Heat Exchangers & Condensers: Higher thermal conductivity and yield strength allow thinner tube walls, raising heat-transfer efficiency while cutting material cost.
  • Pharmaceutical & Food Processing: Fluid-transfer and process lines needing corrosion-resistant, hygienic, smooth-bore surfaces, bright-annealed and electropolished finishes available.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between duplex and super duplex stainless steel pipe?

Both share a two-phase austenitic-ferritic structure, but super duplex is more highly alloyed. Standard duplex (grade 2205) has around 22% chromium and a PREN of 34–38, while super duplex (S32750/S32760) has around 25% chromium plus higher molybdenum and nitrogen, pushing PREN above 40. Super duplex is specified where chloride levels, temperature or pressure exceed what standard duplex can safely handle.

2. What is duplex stainless steel pipe made of?

Duplex pipe is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum-nitrogen stainless steel with a balanced austenite/ferrite microstructure. A typical super duplex composition is roughly 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 3–4% molybdenum and 0.25% nitrogen, which together deliver its corrosion resistance, high strength and good weldability.

3. What grades of duplex pipe does Jade Alloys supply?

We supply standard duplex 2205 (UNS S31803 / S32205), super duplex 2507 (UNS S32750), super duplex S32760 (Zeron 100) and lean duplex S32304, as seamless, welded, ERW and EFW pipe plus ASTM A789 tube.

4. What is the ASME/ASTM code for duplex stainless steel pipe?

Seamless and welded duplex pipe is produced to ASTM A790 / ASME SA790 and ASTM A928; duplex tube is produced to ASTM A789 / ASME SA789. General requirements follow ASTM A999 / ASME SA999.

5. Can duplex and super duplex pipes be welded?

Yes. Duplex grades have good weldability, most often joined by TIG for smaller sizes and submerged-arc or plasma welding for larger diameters. Correct heat input and post-weld solution annealing are important to maintain the austenite/ferrite balance and full corrosion resistance.

6. What is the wall thickness range of duplex pipe?

We supply wall thicknesses from 0.3 mm up to 50 mm across schedules SCH 5 through SCH XXS. Because duplex has high yield strength, thinner walls are often possible than with equivalent austenitic grades, reducing weight and cost.

7. Which duplex grade should I choose for seawater service?

For seawater and high-chloride duty, super duplex S32750 or S32760 (PREN 40+) are the usual specification — 316L will pit and crack in that environment. Send us the chloride concentration, temperature and flow velocity and our technical team will recommend against your actual conditions.

8. What is the price and lead time for duplex pipe?

Pricing depends on grade, size, wall thickness, form (seamless vs welded), quantity and prevailing nickel/molybdenum prices. Standard grades and sizes ship ex-stock; non-standard or large-diameter runs take roughly 4–8 weeks. Send your RFQ for a same-day indicative price.

9. Do you export duplex and super duplex pipe outside India?

Yes. We export to more than 80 countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia, shipping from our Mumbai warehouse with documentation for any port of discharge.
