An Inconel round bar is a solid cylindrical section produced by hot rolling, forging, cold drawing or centreless grinding from a nickel-base superalloy. What sets these bars apart is their behaviour under heat: as temperature rises, the alloy forms a thick, stable, passivating chromium-oxide layer that seals the surface against further oxidation and chemical attack. That single property is why an Inconel bar holds usable strength at 1000 °C where stainless steel has long since crept or scaled away.
