Jade Alloys is an approved stockist and exporter of Monel K500 Sheets and Plates, a precipitation-hardened nickel-copper alloy (UNS N05500 / Werkstoff Nr. 2.4375) that combines the proven corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with significantly higher mechanical strength. The addition of aluminium (2.3 to 3.15%) and titanium (0.35 to 0.85%) enables age hardening, giving Monel K500 Plates approximately three times the yield strength of Monel 400 in the aged condition. This makes Monel K500 Sheets and Plates the preferred choice for marine shaft components, valve stems, oil and gas pump equipment, and subsea hardware where resistance to seawater corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking is critical.

Monel K500 is a nickel-copper-based alloy with a minimum of 63% nickel and 27 to 33% copper. It has excellent resistance to corrosion across a wide range of marine and chemical environments, from pure water to non-oxidising mineral acids, salts, and alkalis. Monel K500 Sheets and Plates are non-magnetic in both annealed and aged conditions, making them suitable for applications where magnetic interference must be avoided, including downhole instrumentation, gyroscopic equipment, and underwater sensors. The alloy retains excellent mechanical properties from cryogenic temperatures below minus 100 degrees C up to approximately 480 degrees C, making it suitable for both LNG and high-temperature process applications.

How Does Monel K500 Differ from Monel 400?

Both alloys share the same base nickel-copper chemistry, but Monel K500 includes controlled additions of aluminium (2.3 to 3.15%) and titanium (0.35 to 0.85%) that enable precipitation hardening. In the aged condition, Monel K500 delivers approximately three times the yield strength of Monel 400 (450 MPa vs 150 MPa) and roughly double the tensile strength. This makes K500 the choice wherever high strength and corrosion resistance must coexist, such as in marine pump shafts, drill collars, and structural fasteners for offshore platforms.
