Monel K500 Sheets and Plates

Both alloys share the same base nickel-copper chemistry, but Monel K500 includes controlled additions of aluminium (2.3 to 3.15%) and titanium (0.35 to 0.85%) that enable precipitation hardening. In the aged condition, Monel K500 delivers approximately three times the yield strength of Monel 400 (450 MPa vs 150 MPa) and roughly double the tensile strength. This makes K500 the choice wherever high strength and corrosion resistance must coexist, such as in marine pump shafts, drill collars, and structural fasteners for offshore platforms.

Per ASTM B127 / UNS N05500. Al and Ti are the key additions that enable precipitation hardening and distinguish K500 from Monel 400.

 Note: Al (aluminium) and Ti (titanium) are the defining alloying additions that distinguish Monel K500 from Monel 400. Their presence enables age hardening (precipitation hardening), which delivers the high yield and tensile strength properties of K500.

Properties vary by condition. Monel K500 is typically supplied and specified in the aged (precipitation-hardened) condition for structural applications. Both conditions are listed below.

Tolerances on thickness are plus and minus nominal (mm). Refer ASTM B127 for complete tolerances on width and length.
