ASTM F3125 Specification
ASTM F3125 is the integrated specification of High Strength Structural Bolts that are made from steel and alloy steel. This single standard now consolidates and replaces 6 previous ASTM specifications of bolts between 1/2 in to 1-1/2 in diameter: A325, A325M, A490, A490M, F1852, and F2280. The F3125 standard defines the chemical, physical and mechanical requirements of structural bolts across two grades of strengths, two styles, and two types. A key change is that structural bolts previously covered by A325 ranging from 1-1/8” to 1-1/2” now have the same mechanical property requirements as those 1” and under, eliminating the slightly lower requirements previously applied to larger diameters.
