Flange Insulation Kit Manufacturer & Supplier — Type E, D, F, G, G-10, G-11, FS & GRE | ISO 9001:2015 Certified
Jade Special Metals manufactures and stocks Flange Insulation Gasket Kits for petrochemical, oil & gas, offshore, and pipeline applications. As an ISO 9001:2015 certified company, we supply complete kits built to electrically isolate mating flanges, stop galvanic corrosion, and keep cathodic protection systems working as intended across all standard flange specifications and operating conditions. All kits are supplied to ASTM, ANSI, API, EN, BS, DIN, and NORSOK standards. EN 10204 Type 3.1 material test certificates are available on request.
Flange insulation kits are used wherever the transfer of volatile or conductive fluids through a pipeline could generate explosive conditions ignitable by stray electrical currents, or wherever galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metal flanges is a service risk. Even in low-risk systems, insulation kits act as a non-conductive interface between mating flanges in cathodic protection circuits, significantly extending pipeline service life.

What a Flange Insulation Gasket Kit Includes
A complete flange insulation kit from Jade Special Metals comprises four component groups. Each component is precision-manufactured to ensure the electrical resistance properties are balanced for the intended service location:
| Component | Qty per Bolt | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Insulating Flange Gasket | 1 (per joint) | Creates a non-conductive seal between mating flange faces. Type selected based on flange face — Full Face, Raised Face, or RTJ. |
| Insulating Bolt Sleeve | 1 per bolt | Prevents electrical current flow through the bolt shank. Full-length sleeve covers the entire bolt within the flange bore. |
| Insulating Washers | 2 per bolt | Prevent electrical conductivity through the bolt holes on both sides of the flange joint, ensuring complete electrical isolation. |
| Steel Back-up Washers | 2 per bolt | Zinc-plated carbon steel (standard) or 316 stainless steel (on request). Distribute clamping load and protect insulating washers from damage. |
In order to achieve optimum results, it is essential that all four components are correctly matched — the electrical resistance properties must be balanced for the purpose and location in the insulation system, and all components must be manufactured from insulating materials with high compressive strength and good dimensional stability.
Types of Flange Insulation Kits
There are 4 main gasket types of Flange Insulation Kit. Each Type uses the same bolt sleeve, washer, and back-up washer components — only the central flange gasket differs. Selection is based on the flange face style and installation access:
Full Face Flanges
-
-
- Type E — Full Face Kit
The gasket has the same outside diameter as the flange with precision bolt holes, allowing bolts to slide through. Full-face coverage minimises the risk of electrical bridging and prevents foreign matter ingress between the mating faces. Best overall electrical isolation. Requires flange separation for installation.
Compliant with: ANSI B16.5, API, BS, DIN
- Type E — Full Face Kit
-
- Ring Type Joint (RTJ) Flanges
Type D — RTJ Kit
The gasket is an insulating oval ring specifically designed to fit into the ring groove of RTJ (ring-type-joint) flanges. Available in oval and octagonal profiles. Manufactured from fabric-reinforced phenolic; complies with ASME B16.20.
Compliant with: ANSI B16.5, API, BS, DIN, ASME B16.20
- Ring Type Joint (RTJ) Flanges
-
- Raised Face Flanges
Type F — Raised Face / IBC Kit
The gasket sits inside the bolt circle (IBC) of the flange, resting on the raised face only. Not as thorough as Type E for electrical bridging protection, but considerably easier to install — flange separation is not required. Suitable for maintenance replacements.
Compliant with: ANSI B16.5, API, BS, DIN
- Raised Face Flanges
- Full Face or IBC — Enhanced Sealing
Type G — Elastomeric Seal Kit
Available in both Full Face and IBC versions. Incorporates an elastomeric sealing ring bonded into the gasket faces, providing superior sealing performance alongside electrical isolation. With the correct choice of insulating materials, Type G kits achieve greater chemical and temperature resistance than standard phenolic kits.
Compliant with: ASME, API, EN, BS, DIN
-

A flange insulation gasket kit is a complete assembly of non-conductive components — an insulating gasket, insulating bolt sleeves, insulating washers, and steel back-up washers — used to electrically isolate two mating flanges in a piping system. The kit prevents galvanic corrosion, blocks stray electrical currents, and protects cathodic protection systems in oil, gas, petrochemical, and offshore pipelines.
A standard kit includes: 1 insulating flange gasket, 1 insulating bolt sleeve per bolt, 2 insulating washers per bolt, and 2 steel back-up washers per bolt. The gasket type (E, D, F, or G) is selected based on the flange face style — full face, raised face, or ring type joint.
Type E uses a full-face gasket with the same OD as the flange and precision bolt holes — best electrical isolation, requires flange separation for installation. Type F uses an IBC (Inner Bolt Circle) gasket on the raised face — easier to install without separating flanges but provides slightly less electrical bridging protection.
Jade Special Metals supplies kits in standard Neoprene-faced Phenolic (−20°C to +100°C), G-10 glass reinforced epoxy (−150°C to +150°C), G-11 GRE composite, Type FS fire-safe composite (−45°C to +180°C), and GRE with modified PTFE sealing faces (−128°C to +120°C). Selection is based on service temperature, pressure, and chemical media.
Yes. Flange insulation gasket kits are used in sour gas and H₂S-containing environments as part of NACE MR0175 cathodic protection systems. G-10 and G-11 kits are preferred for critical sour gas and offshore applications due to their superior electrical isolation and chemical resistance.
Jade Special Metals' flange insulation gasket kits comply with ASTM, ANSI (ASME B16.5), API, EN, BS, DIN, and NORSOK standards. They are suitable for all major flange pressure classes from 150# to 2500# and can be supplied to project-specific standards on request.
