Hastelloy Round Bar is a high performance, wrought nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy, formulated to survive in incredible conditions of aggressive processing. Known for its elite resistance to pitting and stress-corrosion cracking, this material is a staple in industries where standard stainless steel fails.

The material is excellent in its performance in regards to both the reducing and oxidizing agents, regardless of whether you are dealing with Hastelloy Flat Bars or Hex Bars. This flexibility causes it to be the option of choice under moderate to extreme corrosive environments. Hastelloy family, which is made up of a few specialized grades: Hastelloy B2, B3, C22, C276, C2000 and X, the majority of which are nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys optimized to meet particular chemical requirements.

Difference Between Hastelloy and Inconel
While both are high-performance nickel-based alloys, they are engineered for different types of “extreme” service. The primary difference lies in their chemical makeup and what they are designed to resist.
Inconel is a nickel-chromium alloy. It is the preferred choice for high-heat environments (up to 2000°F) because it maintains its strength and resists oxidation when things get red-hot. You’ll find it in jet engines and nuclear reactors.
Hastelloy is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy. It is specifically designed for extreme chemical resistance. It excels at surviving highly “reducing” or “oxidizing” acids and chlorides that would eat through other metals. It is the gold standard for the chemical processing industry.
Applications of Hastelloy Round Bars
Hastelloy bars are used where failure is not an option, particularly in environments involving volatile chemicals and high pressure. Key applications include:
- Chemical Processing
- Pollution Control
- Oil & Gas
- Pharmaceuticals
- Waste Treatment
