About Nylock Nuts
Nylock Nuts, also known as Nylon Insert Lock Nuts or Nylock Jam Nuts are special locking attachment fasteners that have a nylon collar insert that does not loosen with vibration and dynamic loading. The nylon insert provides friction on the threads of the mating, and the threads of the bolts are not harmed in case of accidental back-off.
Nylock jam nuts are hexagonal shaped, lock nuts that are usually employed in applications with small space that demand high resistance to vibration. These nuts are also known as nylon hex jam nuts, nylon stop nuts and thin nylock nuts. Nylon insert causes nylon lock nuts not to be applicable in high temperatures and therefore excessive heat can destroy the locking component.
Nylock nut sizes come in both imperial and metric sizes, with some being produced to the UNC, UNF, UN, BSW and ISO metric thread follies. These nuts are manufactured in various material categories, and they meet the significant ASTM, ASME, DIN, ISO, BS, and IS standards, which is why they would be used in the automotive, machinery, equipment, and general engineering fields.
