Rubber Coated RTJ Gaskets

A Rubber Coated RTJ Gasket also referred to as a Rubber Coated Ring Type Joint Gasket, is an advanced sealing option designed for the most adverse flange connections. The distinctive feature is that there is a solid metal ring core, which is machined, then uniformly coated with a layer of high-performance elastomer (such as Nitrile or Viton).

This two-material configuration allows a gasket to still perform two functions. The metal core generates a solid mechanical seal under high pressure, and resists stress by deforming in the flange grooves when tightened. Additionally, RTJ Gaskets with Rubber Coating may possess the softer coating that is engineered to deliver a secondary seal. This rubber coating fills in minor imperfections on the flange surface, provides corrosion resistance, and protects expensive flange faces from damage during installation and operation.
