The ANSI and ASTM guidelines are also close to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards of fasteners. The ASME standards, which are similar to ASTM, are of different dimensions, chemical and mechanical properties, and are normally preceded with an object “S”. An example of it is ASME SA193 which is analogous to ASTM A193. Also, some of the ASME standards are concerned with the dimensional specifications and are typically utilized on the engineering drawings to indicate the type of fastener, similar to the ANSI standards.

DIN abbreviation means DeutschesInstitutfuer Normung and it translates to German Institute of Standardization. International and European standards have also replaced international and European standards, with the major replacement of national DIN standards.
