What is DAST?

DAST standards are industrial fastener specifications used for defining dimensional accuracy, mechanical performance, and application suitability of bolts, nuts, studs, and threaded fasteners. DAST fastener standards are commonly referenced in regional engineering, fabrication, and industrial supply chains where project-specific or authority-approved specifications are required.

DAST fasteners are manufactured according to defined DAST standards and DAST specifications, which outline critical parameters such as thread dimensions, tolerances, head geometry, load capacity, and functional performance. These standards ensure consistency, interchangeability, and reliability of fasteners used in mechanical and structural assemblies.

Unlike material-specific standards, DAST standards primarily focus on dimensional control and functional design. For critical applications, DAST dimensions are often used alongside internationally recognized material standards such as ASTM, IS, DIN, or ISO to achieve full engineering compliance across industrial projects.

DAST Fastener Standards

DAST fastener standards cover a wide range of industrial fasteners, ensuring dimensional precision and performance reliability across multiple applications.

DAST Standard Fastener Type Description / Application
DAST Hex Bolt Hex Bolts Standard hexagonal bolts manufactured to defined DAST dimensions.
DAST Stud Bolt Stud Bolts Fully threaded studs used in pressure and mechanical assemblies.
DAST Hex Nut Hex Nuts Standard hex nuts matching DAST bolt dimensions.
DAST Heavy Hex Nut Heavy Hex Nuts Heavy pattern nuts for high-load applications.
DAST Socket Screw Socket Head Bolts Internal hex drive screws for compact assemblies.
DAST Anchor Bolt Anchor Bolts Bolts designed for concrete and foundation anchoring.
DAST Threaded Rod Threaded Rods Continuous threaded rods for structural and mechanical use.

These DAST standards are widely used in fabrication shops, mechanical engineering projects, industrial equipment manufacturing, and infrastructure applications.

DAST Standards vs International Fastener Standards

DAST standards are often used in combination with globally accepted fastener specifications to meet complete project requirements.

Aspect DAST ASTM / ISO / DIN
Primary Focus Dimensions & application suitability Material properties & global dimensions
Governs Thread sizes, geometry, tolerances Strength, chemistry, performance
Regional Usage Project-specific / authority-based International
Used Together Yes Yes

In practice, fasteners may be produced to ASTM material grades while conforming to DAST dimensional requirements, ensuring compatibility and performance.

Applications of DAST Fasteners

DAST fasteners are commonly used in:

  • Industrial machinery and equipment
  • Structural fabrication
  • Mechanical assemblies
  • Infrastructure and utility projects
  • Project-specific engineering installations
