About Anchor Bolts
Anchor bolts are applied in securing steel plates, base plates, columns and other structural elements into concrete. They are usually installed in foundations, floors, and reinforced concrete constructions where high holding strength is needed. These are the so-called concrete anchor bolts.
The anchor bolts mostly have a threaded end, which is used in conjunction with nuts and washers and an anchoring part, which is firmly embedded within the concrete. The anchoring technique varies based on the type of bolt and use e.g. cast-in, expansion and mechanical anchoring.
Anchor bolts are produced in a diverse mix of sizes, materials and surface finishes to meet the various load needs and the conditions of the sites. Dimensions come in either metric or imperial systems and some of the types of threads are UNC, UNF, UN and ISO metric threads.
These bolts are made according to ASTM and other international standards. ANOVA A307, ASTM A325, ASTM A354 and ASTM F1554 are common specifications of anchor bolts based on the strength and use requirements.
