Stainless Steel Header Plugs by Grade
Each stainless grade has been selected to address specific service conditions from general corrosive environments to high-temperature sensitisation concerns. Explore each grade page for full technical data, specifications and inventory.
Stainless Steel 304 Header Plug
The most widely used stainless grade. Excellent corrosion resistance in a broad range of environments. Cost-effective for general industrial, food processing, and chemical service. Also available in 304L (low carbon) and 304H (high carbon) variants for elevated temperature.
Stainless Steel 316 Header Plug
Superior chloride corrosion resistance due to 2–3% molybdenum addition. The preferred grade for marine, offshore, coastal plant, and chemical environments with chloride exposure. 316L variant recommended for welded applications to prevent sensitisation.

Advantages of Stainless Steel Header Plugs
Stainless Steel Header Plugs offer a superior combination of properties that make them the preferred choice across demanding industrial environments.
- Superior Corrosion Resistance: The chromium content (18–20%) forms a passive oxide film that provides excellent resistance to atmospheric, chemical, and acidic corrosion far exceeding carbon steel.
- High-Temperature Performance: Austenitic SS grades maintain mechanical strength and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Stabilised grades (321, 347) are specifically designed for continuous high-temperature service.
- Hygienic & Easy to Clean: Smooth surface finish and passive oxide layer make SS Header Plugs ideal for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and dairy processing applications requiring strict hygiene.
- Excellent Mechanical Strength: Stainless steel provides high tensile and yield strength, enabling use across all pressure classes (2000–9000 LBS) in demanding heat exchanger and pressure vessel services.
- Long Service Life: Corrosion and oxidation resistance translate directly to reduced maintenance frequency and longer service intervals, lowering total cost of ownership compared to alternative materials.
- Grade Selection Flexibility: With grades from 304 to 347H, SS Header Plugs can be precisely selected to match your exact service temperature, corrosion environment, and weldability requirements.
